About Us
The Regan School of Music is a family-run music tuition school in New Malden, South-West London. Lessons take place in our home and we aim to give students a chance to enrich their musical skills in a relaxed and friendly environment.
We provide individual lessons to those of all ages and abilities, ranging from the complete beginner to the advanced musician. We tailor our teaching to suit our students' needs, whether they want to take graded exams or experience playing different styles and genres just for fun.
Many of our students take graded exams and we are able to offer special visits from the ABRSM at least twice a year where students are given the opportunity of taking their exam in the comfort of our home, in a setting that they are used to playing in every week. All students are also offered the opportunity to perform at our concerts which take place in the Summer and Autumn terms.
Why music?
We believe everyone should have the chance to learn music, as it creates valuable opportunities for self-expression. Learning music can boost your child's confidence and aid their emotional development, as well as increase their performance in other subject areas.
Music helps introduce more discipline and structure to our lives and teaches us all the values of problem solving, risk taking, and critical thinking. This is why we believe studying music is one of the best investments we can make in ourselves and we are dedicated to providing others with the joy and sense of self-accomplishment that comes with learning music.
Our Teachers
Sonia Regan
Singing, Piano and Violin
I studied piano, singing, and violin at the London College of Music, and piano at the Royal Academy of Music. My teachers included Eric Hope and Timothy Barratt. I also studied the Alexander Technique of Relaxation with pioneer concert pianist & teacher Nelly Ben-Or and I incorporate this in my teaching of the art & science of musical performance. I am always inspired to learn new skills in life and this translates into my passion for teaching others the valuable skills that come with musical training.

Piano, Keyboard and Composition | Accompanist
My 40+ years of teaching experience includes 10 years of lecturing at the London College of Music. Since then I have been an examiner for the London College of Music for theory and practical exams in the UK, Malaysia, Singapore & Indonesia. I now spend most of my time composing and teaching, with a determination to make lessons as enjoyable as possible, as well as ensuring a goal has been achieved by the end of each lesson.

Piano and Flute
I gained a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours in 2018, focusing on flute performance, music education and jazz studies. I have enjoyed performing both solo and in various ensembles, ranging from jazz quartet to 30-piece concert band. Since becoming a full-time primary school teacher, I have less time to perform music; however, I still continue to direct my passion for it towards a select number of music students.
